On the very next Test, a student already in Step 1 must get another 100% A+. If not, if he or she misses even 1 math problem, then that's a problem! and they "fall" out of the Club and Mr. Stathis draws them falling down to the River below! If he or she does get a second 100% A+ on that Test, they move to Step 2!
And likewise to get from Step 2 to the big next step, that of Step 3 in the Club, another 100% A+, so that's 3 100% A+'s in-a-row to get into the top spot "Step 3" in the Club!
So it's little bits of "Bragging Rights" to even get to Step 1, more worthy "Bragging Rights" when you make it to step 2, and then on that 3rd day, your heart really pounds in anixiousness to get the "ultimate Bragging Rights" of making it to Step 3!
So what happens when you're there in Step 3? Well, then you've earned the right to "Get slack" one time and miss, not getting 100% A+ one time. If you do, you stay in Step 3 but then get a TRIANGLE next to your name. That Triangle then represents how, in order to still remain in that high honor of Step 3, you can stay there while you have that triangle.
If, after getting that Triangle by your name, you get 100% A+ on the next Test, then a cross line is made on one of the sides of the Triangle. You can see that in the picture on the whiteboard. You see, once you have a Triangle, you have to then get 3 100% A+'s again to REMAIN in Step 3, the top honor of the Club. One cross line, then another cross line if you get your second 100% A+, then on the 3rd, the 3rd cross line is made, but then the Triangle gets erased, and you "get Slack" again if you need it!
And so it goes on, you try to stay IN THE CLUB as long as you can. Everybody sees you up there all day long, and you see yourself, your right to be proud of your Math Excellence!
It takes a continual Striving for Excellence, even after sometimes, "falling down to the river below!"
